Very cool,I always liked the idea. Except for the part about massive magnetic field. It is interesting to note that Nikola Tesla filed his first patents relating to the Wardenclyffe Tower and wireless power transmission in 1897 [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wardenclyffe_tower ], and he was not the originator of the idea.
In 1864 James Clark Maxwell mathematically modeled the behavior of electromagnetic radiation.

Seems like everything old is new again.
Still a great idea even after 100 years.
I wonder what the world would look like today had Tesla not been quashed.
sounds interesting, but I wonder at what risk. While the link between cell phone signals and cancer has largely been discounted for good reason, it would seem that there might be a concern here given that the electrical fields are many times stronger. A quick glance at scholar.google.com does show that there may be slightly higher risk for people who work around strong electrical fields. So if this wireless system of IBM’s were implemented, would there be an increased cancer or lymphoma risk?
Yup, the risks are definitely there, but so are the opportunities.

a great innovation which was squahed by commercial interests. I think the telsa tower should be rebuilt and the innovation shared freely .with dramatic increases in fuel prices leading to high utility charges, the innovation would have led to lower costs of production and hence cheaper goods. In my opinion mr telsa deserved a Nobel prize.
I’m sure it’s completely safe and there’s nothing to worry about! http://notnews.today.com/2008/08/23/intel-demonstrates-wireless-power-for-the-home/
